Making Muffins

Without fail, my girl will always borrow books on cakes, cupcakes, cookies and muffins from the library. She would say: “Mommy, I want this.” Again, she have selected a recipe book; a princess designed cupcake. After many times, I was sure that her interest in baking was very strong. So during the December holiday, I went to buy a cheap Mistral electric oven to get us started.

Making Muffins is Fun and Educational

My three kids all had their fair share of fun. Jovan and Jenell being the main baker, while Jolynn helped with putting in one cupcake case into the tray. See video.

What have the Kids Learnt?

Baking teaches the children to read the recipe and follow instructions from adults. They always thought eggs are very fragile. When come to cracking an egg, they find that its not easy at all. The baking part also teach them to be patient, waiting for a full 20 minutes before being able to “taste” the outcome. They have fun and enjoyed most when eating the chocolate chip muffin.

It is nice to do something together with your kids. Hope you enjoy this post.

Cool! 🙂 Not easy to bake with kids but they do learn quite a lot from each baking session. Measuring units, hygiene, motor skills, reading, cooking science etc etc. And the best part? They get to eat yummy bakes!! =)
